Foods You Should Not Eat in the Office
Foods You Should Not Eat in the Office
Everyone needs to eat. That means if you work
full time, you will probably need to bring food to work. According to
Healthline, a healthy diet will help you be alert and improve your productivity and concentration.
Some of the best foods to boost productivity include eggs, bananas, and even tea and wine.
As important as productivity is, you also want
to avoid bringing certain foods to work. Bringing messy food can result in a
lot of cleanup and potential embarrassment. You also don’t want to show up to
any important meetings with food on your clothes. Bringing food with a strong
smell also can be a bad idea, and sticky foods can cause temporary peril, as
well. Here are 10 foods to avoid.
1. Barbecue
If you’re outside or in the safety of your own
home, a quality barbecue meal can be a wonderful treat. But barbecue isn’t the
best choice for work because it is extremely messy. In addition to potentially
destroying your clothes, if you are eating in a shared environment, your
co-workers might not enjoy watching you eat such a messy food in public. If you
must have ribs at work, use a knife and fork. Also, be
prepared to run to the bathroom to clean your hands and face.
2. Guacamole or salsa
Guacamole and salsa are definitely a hit with
most people. And if you’re having a work party, you might be able to get away
with bringing them to the office. Otherwise, leave these chip-toppers at home.
Both guacamole and salsa are very messy. Even if you only spill a little on
your shirt or pants (or an important memo), you won’t be getting them off
anytime soon.
3. Candy
Have you ever walked by a child licking a
lollipop, eating a chocolate bar, or blowing bubbles and been astonished by the
amount of mess? Candy tends to get all over your hands, mouth, and anything you
touch. When a kid does it, it can be kind of cute. But it isn’t so cute when
your co-workers see you do the same thing.
If you really like snacking on candy, choose
something that won’t stick all over everything. Also, pay attention to how much
you are eating. It can be easy to start snacking on candy as the hours go by,
and you might be affected by the aftermath of a sugar high later in the day.
4. Glazed donuts

According to court records, India
Kirksey has been charged with felony rape. Jail records indicate she is being
held on $350,000 bond.
Kirksey has yet to enter a plea
and it was unclear Thursday if she had retained legal counsel.
The case files have been
temporarily sealed given the sensitive nature of the allegations and the age of
the victim.

Hillary Clinton tweaks Trump
Hillary Clinton tweaks Trump over unanimous appeals court ruling against travel
ban
Hillary Clinton tweaked President
Trump on Twitter shortly after a federal appeals court ruled against her old
foe’s travel ban Thursday.
Clinton, the 2016 Democratic
presidential nominee, did not include any words in her tweet. Instead, she
simply wrote “3-0,” noting the unanimous ruling of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court
of Appeals.
Clinton has kept a low profile since
losing the Nov. 8 election to Trump. She attended his inauguration, and via
Twitter cheered the Women’s March on Washington the following day. Earlier this
week, she filmed a video for a conference celebrating women leaders. “The
future is female,” she told the group.

Earlier Thursday evening, the San
Francisco-based appeals court declined to block a lower court’s ruling from
last Friday that suspended key parts of a Trump executive order restricting
immigration. The Trump order, signed Jan. 27, barred all refugees from the U.S.
for 120 days and blocked all travel from seven majority-Muslim countries for 90
days.
The executive order led to chaos at
many airports as border officials scrambled to enforce the ruling, with the
administration initially saying it would apply to green-card visa holders
before reversing itself. Protests erupted at airports where travelers were in
transit when the order was signed were initially detained.
Trump vowed to appeal the ruling to
the Supreme Court. Immediately following Thursday’s ruling, he tweeted “SEE YOU
IN COURT.” The president has repeatedly criticized both the appeals court and
the lower court, saying Wednesday that even “a bad student in high school”
would see the law as obviously on his side.
The American Civil Liberties Union,
which has vowed to fight Trump’s executive order, said the same.

Bernie Sanders on Trump: ‘This guy is a fraud’
Bernie Sanders on Trump:
‘This guy is a fraud’
Bernie Sanders says he was
willing to give President Trump the benefit of the doubt when it came to taking
on Wall Street — one issue both populist candidates were in agreement on during
the 2016 campaign. But the Vermont senator says Trump hasn’t lived up to his
part of the bargain.
“I have to say this,”
Sanders told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union” Sunday. “I don’t mean to
be disrespectful. This guy is a fraud.”
On Friday, Trump took steps
to begin dismantling the Dodd-Frank financial regulations that were put into
place following the economic crash of 2008.
“I have so many people,
friends of mine, that have nice businesses – they can’t borrow money,” Trump
told reporters. “They just can’t get any money, because the banks just won’t
let them borrow because of the rules and regulations.”
“This guy ran for president
of the United States saying, ‘I, Donald Trump, I’m going to take on Wall
Street. These guys are getting away with murder,'” Sanders said. “And then
suddenly, he appoints all these billionaires. His major financial adviser comes
from Goldman Sachs. And now he is going to dismantle legislation that protects
consumers.”
Sanders also criticized
Trump for filling his Cabinet with people who have vowed to cut health care.
“This is a guy who ran for
president saying, ‘I’m going — I’m the only Republican, I’m not going to cut
Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid,'” Sanders said. “And then he appoints
all of these guys who are precisely going to cut Social Security, Medicare, and
Medicaid.”
Sanders added, “I hope that
all of those folks who voted for Mr. Trump because he — thought that he would
stand up for working people, man, this guy is — you know, he’s a good showman.
I will give you that. He’s a good TV guy.”
Sanders urged Republicans,
including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, to stand up to Trump’s recent
barrage of executive orders.
“I would hope that people
like Sen. McConnell and other Republicans have the courage to stand up to
Trump’s movement toward authoritarianism,” Sanders said. “We’re a democracy,
not a one-man show. We are not another Trump enterprise. It’s called the United
States of America. We’re not a business run by Mr. Trump.
He added, “I hope that Sen.
McConnell, who is a decent guy, conservative guy — I disagree with him on
everything. But I would hope that he and his Republican friends will make it
clear to Trump that this country belongs to all of us, and it’s not a one-man
show

Concrete mix design
Concrete mix design
Concrete mix design is the
process of finding the proportions of concrete mix in terms of ratios of
cement, sand and coarse aggregates. For e.g., a concrete mix of proportions
1:2:4 means that cement, fine and coarse aggregate are in the ratio 1:2:4 or
the mix contains one part of cement, two parts of fine aggregate and four parts
of coarse aggregate. The concrete mix design proportions are either by volume
or by mass. The water-cement ratio is usually expressed in mass
Requirements for concrete mix design:
· The grade designation giving the
characteristic strength requirement of concrete.
· The type of cement influences the rate of
development of compressive strength of concrete.
· Maximum nominal size of aggregates to be
used in concrete may be as large as possible within the limits prescribed by IS
456:2000.
· The cement content is to be limited from
shrinkage, cracking and creep.
· The workability of concrete for satisfactory
placing and compaction is related to the size and shape of section, quantity
and spacing of reinforcement and technique used for transportation, placing and
compaction.
Procedure for Concrete Mix Design as per IS
456 : 2000 :
1. Determine the mean target strength ft from
the specified characteristic compressive strength at 28-day fck and the level
of quality control.
ft = fck + 1.65 S
where S is the standard deviation obtained
from the Table of approximate contents given after the design mix.
2. Obtain the water cement ratio for the
desired mean target using the empirical relationship between compressive
strength and water cement ratio so chosen is checked against the limiting water
cement ratio. The water cement ratio so chosen is checked against the limiting
water cement ratio for the requirements of durability given in table and adopts
the lower of the two values.
3. Estimate the amount of entrapped air for
maximum nominal size of the aggregate from the table.
4. Select the water content, for the required
workability and maximum size of aggregates (for aggregates in saturated surface
dry condition) from table.
5. Determine the percentage of fine aggregate
in total aggregate by absolute volume from table for the concrete using crushed
coarse aggregate.
6. Adjust the values of water content and
percentage of sand as provided in the table for any difference in workability,
water cement ratio, grading of fine aggregate and for rounded aggregate the
values are given in table.
7. Calculate the cement content form the
water-cement ratio and the final water content as arrived after adjustment.
Check the cement against the minimum cement content from the requirements of
the durability, and greater of the two values is adopted.
8. From the quantities of water and cement per
unit volume of concrete and the percentage of sand already determined in steps
6 and 7 above, calculate the content of coarse and fine aggregates per unit
volume of concrete from the following relations:
